Give rowing a try with a friendly, local group.

Rowing stimulates the mind and develops your body.

Set against the elemental backdrop of one of the most beautiful stretches of the Thames, what could be better?

As part of TTRC, recreational rowing covers a wide spectrum in age and ability but all rowers share the same joy in boating, exercise and comradeship.

There is a strong social aspect to recreational rowing. Groups often meet up for a drink and a chat after an outing – there’s always coffee on tap!

not sure where to start?

Don’t worry. Just get in touch and we’ll talk you through everything.

It’s a pastime that people become passionate about – because you never stop learning.

After a while you’ll spend endless hours watching rowing videos on-line, looking forlornly at any stretch of water you drive by, be aghast at the crazy way people use the ergos in gyms, and think it’s okay to wear crazy coloured lycra outfits.

Worried you’re not fit enough?

Don’t. Rowing will also get you fit – fast.

We have a scientifically designed training programme that maximises return on your time. You can use it at times that suit you (many use their local gyms and only appear at the club at the weekend). It’s still one of the most exhilarating ways to keep fit (in both body and mind).

Adult Learn to Row

We run regular six-week induction programmes facilitated by trained coaches and experienced rowers.

The course involves both land and water training. We also provide e-learning reference materials to look at in-between sessions.

The typical programme consists of two sessions a week.

  • Thursdays 7.00pm to 8.30pm: gym based on the rowing machines and circuit training*.
  • Saturday 12.00pm to 3.00pm: on the water*.

* NB These may alter slightly per group.

During the course you will learn –

  • the structure of the stroke,
  • what it takes to make a boat go fast,
  • ergo technique,
  • stretching, nutrition and training tips.
