Learn to Row

Thames Tradesmen’s Rowing Club recreational rowing group is run as part of British Rowing’s “Explore Rowing” scheme.

Women's 8 on Tideway from Thames Tradesmen's Rowing Club

We offer a structured Learn to Row programme for beginners, with the focus on learning to row properly and safely, using specialist recreational boats.

Rowers with previous experience also benefit from the same programme, which ensures that all squad members row with a consistent technique and understand the safety requirements of rowing in general and the Tideway in particular.

This approach not only ensures enjoyable rowing, allowing crews to be mixed (different rowers, different abilities) with high confidence of good outings and minimising the risk of injury, but also means that rowers acquire a solid technical base.
